Doors

If you want to install a new door, replace an old one, or refinish a classic, you have come to the right place.

I have installed hundreds of doors of all shapes, sizes, and brands; from inexpensive plain-janes to high-end doors with dual sidelights with custom accented glass. As a master carpenter, I employ a technique of door installation not often seen in the trades. This technique requires slightly more diligence and time than you might see on an average installation, perhaps 15 additional minutes per door. The benefit of my technique is that your door will be 100% adustable in the opening after installation. This means that if your foundation settles years later--as all foundations do--you won't have to worry about putting up with a sticky or drafty door. Should your house settle or your framing move, your door can be easily adjusted by simply loosening or tightening certain key screws.

I will install the proper insulation around your door.

This is perhaps one of the most neglected details in door installation. I would estimate that around 80% of the doors I have replaced have either had no insulation or only small clumps of fiberglass stuffed haphazardly around the jamb. Once the trim is on, you, the home owner, can not know whether or not the door has been properly insulated. I guarantee that you won't have to worry about what's behind the door trim of any door that I install. I will work on your home as if it were my own, and I will use the same quality methods that I would put into my own home.

I promise you an airtight seal around your door.

When I install or repair a door, I will use only premium weatherstripping. I prefer foam and vinyl weatherstripping for its sealing ability, resistance to abrasion, and long life. I will not install cheap copper or metal weather stripping because it does not seal well, it tends to deform on hot days, it leaves a sharp cutting edge exposed to small fingers, and it dents easily and just looks unattractive. You can expect a quality seal when I install your door.

Perhaps your existing door just needs refinishing.

With a little work, an older door can be easily restored to a like-new appearance. I have much experience in restoring exterior wood doors and refinishing them with a variety of stains, sealers, and weatherproofing products.
